Failure is not Final

The title is inspired from the recent CMF Northern Conference. Although I wasn't able to attend, I feel that this addresses my current position in life.

A quote to start off this blog post:
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
 Winston S. Churchill

So dear family and friends, where do I begin?

These past four years have been difficult, I'm not going to lie but God has been gracious.
Currently, I have missed the marks needed to progress to fifth year and am appealing for the medical school to let me back in. We'll see what God has planned!

I am extremely grateful that God has given me the opportunity to take this year off as I'm feeling burnt out and I just need a year to recollect my thoughts and start to enjoy what I do again! Doctors need to learn how to take care of themselves too and sadly many doctors neglect their own health. The irony eh?

This year is hopefully a year of refreshment, travels and reconnecting to God's word!

Here are my dates of travel so you can keep track of where I am in the world!
October 26 -November 2: Barcelona, Spain
November 24-November 29: Krakow, Poland with Liz
November 30-December 14: Cambodia with Samaritan's Purse Canada
(Read more about project here - if you would like to support project, water filters cost $100 CDN each - any support appreciated: email me for sponsor form)
December 14-20: Seoul, Korea
December 20-?28: Hong Kong, China (visiting family)

Return to UK - to be decided
January 6: TBC Aaron and Becky's wedding in Geneva
January 23-April 9th: L'Abri in Greatham, Hampshire
(More about L'Abri)
And onwards: back to Vancouver until term starts

Some of you are going to be real worried about my well being considering what has happened!
Let me reassure you with a bible verse:

 Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

I am sad that I won't be able to graduate with my peers in 2012 but ultimately I have confidence that God knows what He is doing! This has genuinely been a joyous occasion for me to take time off.

I have learnt that failure is not final. Society define that failure as the opposite of success but through my experiences, failure makes one a much stronger individual. Failure does not mean that you will not succeed; it simply means there is an obstacle which is preventing you from reaching your goal. This is a good time to reassess your values and what is important to you in life!
