Hello from Krakow!
It's our last day here today but thought of a sharing some stories about our trip so far!! There will probably be a much longer post with stories with pictures (hopefully later on today).
Krakow is a really lovely city which is extremely brilliant to walk around; we are currently staying at a Polish home (where people rent out rooms in their house) which is in the Jewish quarters. (air bnb - can send you an invite which gives you $25 off)
When we arrived at the main train station, we were incredibly lost as to how to get to old town! We obviously looked like tourists and some polish chavs made 'ching Ching chong' racist comments at us. We stared at the tram map for 10 minutes hoping that suddenly we would be enlightened as to where to go! It didn't work. A young polish boy asked us if we were lost and offered to walk us all the way to old town! It turned out his name was
'Bless!' We were feeling very blessed at this point! He even directed us to a restaurant and gave us a 10% voucher! How the Lord provides for us!
We had a lovely meal which cost 35 PLN, approximately £6.5 - for the two of us! We were obviously overjoyed at the price!
10 things about Krakow,Poland.
1) pretzel stalls are everywhere! There is one every 500 metres - costing 1.5 PLN (30p)
2) people here wear dark colours - Liz stood out with her bright red jacket!
3) most people here can speak English (thankfully!) as the polish language is not a language that you can understand via English pronunciation.
4) Polish chocolate is pretty bad. if you want to be put off of chocolate, go to Poland!
5) Polish people don't bargain.
6) Carsickness is particularly bad in Poland! (I was motion sick for every single car ride whilst here.)
7) Live music is really good here - we went to a jazz bar and a live piano venue.
8) Expensive meals does not necessarily mean you will get better food.
9)Krakow is a place of walking history!
10) Church was held in a hotel!!
More to share via photos later
